Shangri-la Jungle Lodge near Tena
September 17, 2008
Once we'd dried out from rafting we drove to our next accomodation - a jungle lodge perched 500m above the river with stunning views over the jungle. Since we were a little tired we opted for a quiet poker night in the bar with a couple of salsa lessons thrown in.
In the morning we took a boat down the river to an animal sanctuary and saw monkeys, toucans and capybaras. The caiman and anacondas were hiding but how many people can claim they've had their camera clawed by an ocelot? Fortunately no damage was done :-)
After lunch by the river where we seemed to be the 'menu del dia' for the sandflies (they made us bleed the little buggers!) we were taken to see pottery and balsa carving demonstrations.
