Hike up Cerro Otto

We decided to go for a walk up Cerro Otto (I'll add uninteresting facts like it's height when I have the lonely planet to hand) with 2 guys from our hostel so we could see the view, have some exercise plus it would be free. Bonus.

It was a nice walk although we missed the path we were supposed to take so took the road less travelled.... directly straight up the hill, no switchbacks for these crazy chicks! See, we are tough! And we were also red and sweaty. Yummy. Not helped that we were advised it would be cold so wore thermals, it was hot and sunny but you can't really complain about sunshine can you?

We made it almost to the top and were admiring the view happily until we rounded the last corner to find we had to pay 20 pesos to go in a fernicular the last 100m and then another 25 to get back down. How rude! All that effort then they stop us hitting the top! So we sat on some haybales and ate our sarnies instead much to the dismay of our adopted doggie companion 'Steve' who thought we should feed them to him instead.

But we all returned home happy and tired drinking in the amazing scenery :-)
