Varkala has been a fantastic place to stay, a real beach paradise, ..I know I keep saying that but the beaches just keep getting better!!! Thinking back now Puri wasn't that great a beach with it's dirty fishing village and sewer pipe emptying into the sea, but after Calcutta it seemed to be. This place on the otherhand is a real package holiday destination, all great restaurants, white sand ( except at black sand beach ) and nice accomodation!! The beaches are fantastic, north beach is beautiful, going down the 100 or so steps is alright , going up, well, i know indians have little legs but these steps are really steep, the little cows really take a battering on the ascent!!! The other beach is great too and no steps down, black sands beach is a beauty, hardly anyone there , palm trees all round and a beaut of a sea!!! We've had a great time in the sea, the current is all over the place and theres a huge rip, waves breaking everywhere, but we've been like two dolphins ( no, we haven't been chased by Japenese fishermen with harpoons ) diving around the place!!! You get hit by a wave, lifted off your feet, triple sumersaulted then thrown on the beach , simply amazing!!!
We got here Sunday night and the first few days were amazing, it had rained the last couple of weeks in Kerala and there was hardly anyone else there, when we got there however the weather picked up, f**k me it was hot, and by the time we decided to leave on the Saturday it was really busy and not so nice!!! Can't please us can you!!!!!!
Anyway, we've had our time away from real India, we've had enough of the package tour set, it's time to get back amongst it , deep down and dirty, strange to say we've missed the snot jets, crips and beggars and i'm sick of fish, more to the point the vodka and rum supplies are getting low and we need a refill so it's time to get back in there.
