We left Varkala this morning at 7, paid the bill, argued about it as they suddenly decided to try and stich us up by upping the price 50 rupees a day which pissed us off as we even got our mate Paul to stay with them and give them business as they were quiet when we arrived, obviously now it's hot and the tourists are pouring in they've forgotten about that!!!Anyway I sent Ria in ( god help them ) and 2 minutes later problem sorted, guys are apologising and all is well!!!! So it's into a tuk tuk and to the station , train to Kollam and we're on the ferry jetty 2 hours early to get the fezza to Alleppey. Great breakfast of poori and idly ( see previou
s photos), it's a real day starter, cuzza for breakfast!!! (don't read that bit to Karen Chris tell her we had fresh fruit salad or something HA HA !) and we're back on the fezza.
What a fantastic trip, anyone coming out here, get on this boat, eight hours on the backwaters and it's incredibly beautiful and relaxing, you stop for lunch at a a posh joint where they serve you traditional Keralan food at a very untraditional price at lunch, but it's nice and the trip is so calming you really don't care!!! It's such a fantastic trip ,well worth the money , and a must to do even if 96 kilometres in 8 and a half hours is quite slow, at least you get to see some wildlife, (all those tortoises and snails overtaking you) , no seriously I don't want to sound like a twitcher but we saw so many Kingfishers, sea eagles and kites it was amazing!! Anyway going to stop now as I've just re read this and realised just how boring it's got so enough of the birds and beautiful scenery, not sure where we're going tomorrow .....
