HCMC????...................... it's a bit crazy really !!~!!
After a long old bus journey we arrived here around 4 and spent a good half hour tryng to find somewhere to stay. It's a bit weird here, there's the usual guest houses but then there's all these other places. Basically, either the spare room or the kids bedrooms in various houses!!! As it's Tiddley new year tomorrow everywhere is packed, but, after trudging the alleys of Saigon for a while we found a great room, hot shower and cable and still only 9 dollars!!! Obviously adventure Rat had to negotiate this price...the Vietnamese bargain hard but they're no match for my wife !!!!!!! HONK HONK PARP PARP HAPPY SHOPPER POOP POOP
So first things first, we haven't tried any noodle soup yet in the Nam.
We hadn't decided what to do yet, it's a toss up ( oooohhhhh eeeerrrrrr!!!!! ) between staying in Saigon for new year or heading up to Nah Trang, so when a big decision is needed what do we do, yep thats right , it's to the travel agent to get a bit of basic info and then straight to the bottle shop to mull things over with the help of our good friend Vladimir from Russia!!! ( which by the way is extremely bargainous here in the Nam !! ) What to do, should we stay or should we go now, if we stay there maybe ........... well, a flower market, singing and fireworks, and if we go there will be .....the same........... plus the beach, hhhhhhhhmmmmmmmmmmmm.............
So, it was a close call, and even took Kebabs ( oh yes, and pretty good ones too even if they were pork ) but we decided on Nah Trang, not just cause of the beach, but we're coming back to HCMC and it's good to keep on the move isn't it??????? So it's another bus ride again tomorrow, apparently it can take anywhere between 6 and 9 hours depending on traffic so we won't reach Nah Trang until dark. As it's Tiddley New Year we decide to take the unprecidented step of booking a room ( how forward thinking of us, must be Ria's brownie training!!! .) The people who we book our bus ticket with recommend the Mimosa, so we hand over the cash ( 14 bucks !!!!!!!!! ) and the deed is done, no going back now...
