Hungover at the bus station
We were told we were heading for a resort, what we didn´t realise was that it was a ski ing and mad bastad trekking kind of resort........plus it was freezing, in retrospect we should have realised this as soon as we saw the little Chilian brass monkey running past the bus with his balls in his hands as we pulled into the station!!!! Oh well you live and learn.......
Anyway so it was cold and it rained but we had a good time!!! We were met fromm the bus by a little old lady who convinced us to stay at her hostel, not a difficult job as I was in shorts, Ria was in her denim mini, the temperature was about 5 degrees and most importantly her hostel was only across the road!!! She showed us in and up to our room, which was small but perctectly formed, and then gave us a run down on the area in100mph Spanish.
You have been warned
We understood about 10 % but that was enough to realise if we wanted anything to eat we had to get to the supermaket in about 2 minutes ...so of we went. It was a basic one but the dry bread and water reminded me of my time inside....no sorry that wasn´t me and we didn´t have that we had pasta in a thick chicken soup type of thing which was really nice and washed down with some rather fine but really cheap Chilian plonk. PARP PARP !!!!!!!!! We had a little chat with the three Poles who were also staying there and a drunken natter to Sylvia´s ( the little old lady ) daughter ( she was drunk not us honest mum !!!) and grandchild and then went to bed absolutely exhausted after the, I think, 9 lsh hours of hungoverness on the bus.
Next day we´re up and out by sometime in the morning, it really isn´t important, and ready for a look round town, a quick look at the map and we´re off,.
On our own tour
.........in the wrong direction but it´s all exercise after all and after about a km we realised this and about turned and very quickly made our way into town. Feeeeeeeewwwwwwww that was boring hey???? Anyway the town was well resortie, but really picturesque with all the mountains in the background and to be quite honest a little boring but as we´d already booked our tickets out for the next day we decided it was now or never on the sightseeing front , so obviously we thought bugger it and got pissed.
HA HA HA HA NOT REALLY.........no we headed off on our own tour of the place , getting some superb shots of the mountains and volcano and really getting a feel for town................... Then we got the ingrediants for a spag boll and headed back to the house for a drink!!!!!!!!!! On reaching home the door was answered by Tatiana, Sylvia´s daughter who was completely hammered!!!!!!! What could we do but open our own bottle and join in.
She was a crazy goose!!!!
So we´re drinking wine and having a laugh in our now fairly ok Spanish and Tatiana puts some Flamenco on and decides to teach Ria some dancing, one thing leads to another and before we know it she´s wearing a feather bra and skirt and showing us traditional Easter Island dancing whilst being egged on my old Sylvia who has now joined us and got stuck right into our bottle of vino collapso. Well I´n sure she´s usually great at it ,and all things considered after the amount of empties around the place, she did quite well. It was just hilarious watching her spinning around, losing her skirt every 30 seconds and desperately trying to keep on her feet!!!!!
Next thing we know Sylvias asking us if we´ve got enough food to make them dinner aswell.
Don't look into her eyes
Obciously we´ve got to say yes and so it was into the kitchen for us. By the time we emerged Sylvia´s got another bottle of wine on the go and Tatiana´s no where to be seen . In the end we feed one of the Poles who reckons it´s the best meal he´s had while he´s been away so alls well in the end!!! What a great night, we really learnt some interesting things about Chile and really enjoyed staying with Tatiana and Sylvia , even if it was a little odd......Nevada Hostel if anyones interested´......go on try it out .........you never know Tatiana might just get her feathers out.... God the old straightlaced Poles face was a picture when he came out of his room and she´s there all feathers flying in front of us.....classic stuff......and the spag boll was damn good too.............and she gave us hot chocolate in the morning before we left.....in candle light too as the electricity had gone off sometime in the night..........go on try it out you know you want to.........
