what a cool town

This is one amazing place !!!! On every side of the town is a mountain it´s incredible and the town is really friendly too.

The trip down from Quito is immense, you´re balanced on a tiny thin road with 100 foot drops on one side and sheer walls of rock on the other....sheer most f the time that is, apart from the mini avalanches that seem to slide down towards you from time to time !!!!! A great journey , even if it was made a little more difficult by the hangover from last nights three o clock finish to our Pina Colada, pool and burger session !!!!!

Last night we made spag bollock, supposedly just for the three of us, but after buying a kilo of mince, onions, peppers, a mahoosive carrot, garlic, enough tommie toe in a tin for 12 and one rather small puree the end result was enough to feed everyone staying in our hostel and to leave a plate for the breakie girls.

cooking for the whole hostel
..( how to make friends and influence people eh unfortunately it also got us into conversation with some of the most me me me sort of people we{ve met so far )......it was damn good too !!!!!! Good work team !!

What a day we{ve just had though, white water rafting, the first time for all three of us and we were on level 4 rapids!!!!!POOP POOP PARP PARP!!!!!!!

Where{s the bloody apostrophe gone again ????? answers on a postcard please.............

The trip down to the river was breathtaking enough passing millimatres from the edge of 100 foot drops again, climbing higher into the mountains before dropping back down again almost instantly, waterfalls dropping their load onto the road at our side and driving through 4 pitch black tunnels that seemed to last forever, and no lights on the truck !!!! How do they make those tunnels through the mountains ???????? BORING.

our intrepid explorers look a little nervous
.......oh sorry I{ll change the subject then..............no honestly BORING ( get it he he ha ha boring yeah, you know boring into the ground not like zzzzzzzzzboring...............oh forget about it !!!!!!!!!!

GET ON WITH IT !!!!

Ok so we sat through the safety lecture slowly getting more and more nervous, looking like the penguins of Pisco wedged into our wetsuits and sporting blue helmets ( on our head...it wasn{t that cold you idiot !!!!!! ) and thinking what the hell have we got ourselves into , but man , what a thrill it was flying down those rapids, getting drenched by wave after wave, going backwards over huge boulders, spinning around whirlpools and at times really just holding on !!!! Our team leader dude was called Fabrizio and although a little on the weird side he was amazing and kept us all going hard.

nice
Obviously our raft were better than the other raft there that day, there was us, team Florida, team Canada and canada irish, wow what a rush it was, we all managed to stay in the raft too, unlike the other guys who lost three team members, one even getting stuck in a whirlpool which was a bit scary for a while. They broke the day up a little by taking us to another part of the river to jump off the cliff and then to swim under a mini waterfall, using all your strength to stay there before being hurled back down river by the force of the water !!!!!

Far to quickly it was all over and they took us for a late lunch, soup, and it rated pretty high on the old soupometer, no hooves in sight this time but a definate suspicion of their presence in the kitchen,it scored well on artistic impression where a strategically placed potatoe attracted much debate amongst the judges, it lost points for a lack of spice but retreived them on the novel idea of serving it with popcorn.

X Factor
..yes ..popcorn, which you were supposed to add into the soup to produce a thicker more hearty consistency..........interesting, not sure if it will catch on but points for invention.Overall the soupometer came to rest on 7.3, not bad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Soup was followed by some chicken, spicy rice and salad, and a glass of some worryingly semenlike juice that even the local boys were unsure of !!!!!

Unfortunately we{re off again tomorrow, but YIIIIPPPPPEEEEEEE it{s back to the beach for a couple of days, the mountains and jungle are great but it{s far too cloudy and rainy, can{t remember the name of the place but it{s a good 8 hours away, mandanita or something ..........near Porto Lopez anyway.......i{ll tell you next time.....oh forgot to say we had some Ecuadorian red and white wine last night, pretty good, so good infact we{re having more tonight, in fact now so bye and see you next time.

Geronimo!!!!
