Magical city in the clouds
Darjeeling is the nicest , most relaxed city we have visited so far on our trip, it's amazing.
After we arrived at NJP station and recovered from dead guys train journey we jumped onto a share jeep ready for the 2 and a half hour journey to Darj. What a journey, we were lucky enough to sit in the front so had a fantastic view of everything. Our driver was an absolute crazy guy, the path up the mountains was just a little wider than the jeep but this guy threw us round the corners, milimeters from a 7000 foot drop, without a thought. The funny thing was though you felt safe, he did this trip up and down every day so knew the road. Fantastic journey and breathtaking views.
We stayed here for three nights and had a cracking time, breakfast everyday with egg man wo made the most delicious egg and veg pancake rolls, then we headed off exploring the area, we put some kilometers in everyday and saw some breathtaking scenery. Anyone who has never been get on your way.
From the roof of our guest house, Andy's, you got an almost 360 degree view of the surrounding Himalayas- unreal!!!
The people here were the most friendly we have met, the food was fantastic, the surroundings jaw dropping, and it wasn't that cold, I still wore my shorts but we had to wear hoodies, but oh so worth it!!!
