Well, we´re a bit tired now after todays wander about the city. It took us a while to negotiate the cities buses, absolutely ages infact, why exactly does a city need three different types of buses that all look the same but go to completely different places ?????????????? , don´t know how many buses we stopped and asked if they were heading to the centre of the world, but let me tell you it was a lot more than you would think possible, and yet we made it, we didn´t buckle and jump into a cab even though we came as close as you can without actually doing so. Actually that cab driver was a little annoyed to get pulled over, three people to get in only for three people to change their minds and get out again !!!!!!!!! HA HA ooops sorry pardon senor !!
So, the centre of the world, yes we were there, we jumped from one side of the equator to the other, we lay half in the north and half in the south, we set the camera to auto and jumped into the air to try and capture the perfect midair equator shot ( repeatedly, as this infact prooved decidedly tricky here for some reason !!!! ), and we ate a traditional lunch of hoof soup, lemon cucumber, rice and spicey chicken.
We´re not too sure about the plan for the next couple of weeks while Nick´s here, he wants a bit of Jungle, some beachtime, a boat trip and he´d read about this train ride in Riobamba that´s supposed to be the most hair raising trip of it´s kind according to the L.P . Us on the other hand are mostly just up for the beach, well it is the end of the trip ci ???? Pisco may have to have a return trip to fit in the boat trip which would be cool, go see some more slions and guins.
Just spoken to a guy we´ve met, Damian, who has been in Quito for the last 6 weeks and Ecudor for the last 6 months, about the so called hair raising train trip and apparently it´s all a bit old hat now and that the health and safety losers have completely ruined the trip by banning sitting on the roof of the train and putting in speed restrictions , so now the hair raiser is little more than a scenic downhill train trip at slightly more than walking pace, the train trip has now been condemned to the bin. Heading to Banos tomorrow and maybe a little whitewater rafting, not sure what time we´ll be leaving though as we´ve just bought a bottle of rum, one of vodka and a couple of bottles of ready mixed Pina Colada.
Actually better go and start on that Pina Colada now....hhhhhmmmmmmmmmmmm yeah that´s better.......maybe it just needs a touch more rum to make it a little less girlie............oh ok we don´t need the umbrella either............... cheers !!!!!!!!
