Awesooooome!!!!
Siem Reap is just the coolest place. Everyone is so laid back and friendly and just smiling all the time. The airport was just so pretty ( how gay does that sound???) as well and didn't really seem much like an airport at all , more just the foyer for a hotel, except for the row of hard faced ( and only unsmiling people in Siem Reap ) customs officials and passport controllers, but after paying them 20 dollars they seemed far more human !!!! We stayed in a really nice guest house , Popular guesthouse, a big double aspect ( thanks Grand Design ) room with the comfiest bed ever, cable and a nice shower and all for 9 dollar, get in!! We love Cambodia HONK HONK!!!
The previous night had been fairly late with us not going to bed until half one and as we had to get a cab at 4 to the airport we were pretty much done in by the time we had checked in so it was curtains closed and time for an afternoon nap ( wheres my pipe and slippers? wheres my cocoa? .
) A couple of hours later we're back up and about and exploring Siem Reap, what a great little town it is, cheap books and dvds, wifi all over the place, and amazing rice soup!!!! .......oh and beer is only 50 cents PARP PARP POOP POOP.........and they sell Laughing cow baguettes!!! something to do with the French influence or something......boring blah blah blah....When we get back to the guest house we arrange a driver for tomorrow for our trip to Angkor Wat and also our bus tickets to Penom Phen the next day, then back to that comfy bed for more zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
How to describe Angkor Wat ??? Astonishing............. Awesome............... Amazing.................and thats just the A's, dont start me on the rest of the alphabet!!!! We had an incredible day, from 10 until 5 wandering around the temples, my favourite was Bayon with it's huge heads watching your every move but Ria loved the Jungle Temple, something straight out of the Jungle book, totally overgrown with huge trees, walls falling down everywhere, a real Indiana Jones temple, just right for Adventure Rat ( Ria's new name!!) .
Angkor Wat itself is also fantastic, as is Elephant Terrace and another temple whose name we never knew but in which we had to actually climb the steps upto it as though we were on a ladder it was so steep, and this is where Ria received her new name for amazing adventurousness yeah!!!!!!!HONK HONK PARP PARP TEMPLE CLIMBING ADVENTURE RATS POOP POOP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
