9 days in morocco to get away from dull January in London..can't believed it snowed while we were gone!

Welcome to Morocco

casablanca

Andrew turns another year older and we arrived in smoggy Casablanca. Walked around the city visiting the cathedral and the medina. The medina is the old city enclosed by walls to protect the city during war. We were befriended by a local guy who whisked us off to his fathers shop. where we were completely ripped off for a pair of earrings in order to get away ... welcome to Morocco.

Met our Traveltalk tour buddies (1 other aussie, 2 US, 1 canada, 1 taiwan, 3 koreans) all in all  one guy 9 girls Andrew was petrified. This was further reinforced when the hot topic of conversation on the first morning was bridesmaid dresses, AC in trouble.

Hassan II Mosque (HassanII was the previous sultan and father to the current MohammedVI) the 3rd largest religiuous monument in the world (and 2nd largest mosque behind mecca) was breathtaking. It was only completed in 1993 by 10 000 crafstsman working 24/7 for 6 years, so very modern with opening roof and underfloor heating! More of a tourist attraction and monument to the country. Casablanca in a few hours not much to see here.
