Atlas mountain chain

Traditional castles (kasbahs) built by the berbers and forever changing scenery.. the atlas mountains are very impressive. The majority of berbers still live in this region.. although most now speak arabic and berber languages. The mountains are the highest in northern africa. The highest point we reached was approximately 2500m.
The high atlas mountains were covered in snow and the winding roads spectacular (if not a little sickening for some), our guide spoke of accidents - a big problem, especially at night - and recent winters where big snow falls had trapped many vehicles including tourist buses like ours..
