Cairns -Cape tribulation - Atherton
Cairn is a bustling tropical city because of its close proximity to the Great Barrier Reef, the rainforest region of the Atherton Tablelands and the exquisite palm-lined beaches to the north and south of the city. Cairns itself, population around 93 000, is located on coastal mudflats that attract an abundance of native bird-life that thrive in this environment.
Cape Tribulation National Park covers a large coastal portion of the World Heritage listed Daintree National Park in Kuku-yalanji country. The lush green coastal strip of Cape Tribulation is a place of great beauty, and one of the few places where the rainforest meets the sea. Nowhere else are these two natural wonders side-by-side and so accessible to travellers.

the Daintree Rainforest is a dense jungle area part of the Australian Wet Tropics,is amongst the most ancient ecosystems on earth, you can hike through marked paths through the jungle but much of the Daintree is inaccessible wilderness.
