Whistler Creek, Blackcomb mountain

After leaving Vancouver Island and spending the weekend in Vancouver itself, catching up with friends, I came up to Whistler to finally indulge in some snowboarding at the home of powder riding. Well, obviously not powder in spring conditions, but the nonetheless there were some nice conditions.
I stayed in a hostel in Whistler Creek, but it was so easy to get up to Whistler Village that it wasn't an inconvenience. I also got a spring deal on the cost of a season ticket, which was better than the equivalent rate for buying a normal lift pass, and I got the extra benefits of the season pass. Unfortunately Whistler Mountain closed on the 27th April until mid May for lift maintenance, so I only had Blackcomb mountain to play on.
With cold nights, the slopes were freezing overnight, and it was worth starting late morning to get the best of the slopes. Once the snow softened up, it was much like riding in good winter conditions in Europe, but with the fine weather of spring. Unfortunately on the last two days the snows melted so much at the bottom that I couldn't ride uninterrupted right down to the village.
