Swanta (c. 2400m) > Chitre (2390m): Helloooo Dhaulagiri

Dhaulagiri... why do those clouds never leave the summit?

The day of separation. We had a late start from Swanta since we were effectively heading downhill along the same trail we came up yesterday, crossing the river, and climbing through the fields to encounter the land of Chitre (2390m).

Not a very eventful walk… roughly 90 minutes all up, going dead slow and fooling around a bit.

It was good to get to Chitre and dump our stuff in the room we secured at the Dhaulagiri Lodge. How could you not love this place? It’s not called Dhaulagiri Lodge for nothing…. Dhaulagiri just engulfs the place.

Beautiful.

I’m glad that I’ll get to look at this view whilst relaxing for a few days.

As for the lodge itself… how can you complain at 100R per room per night. The staff are a bit distant, but that’s probably to be expected when people only ever stay for a night and then wander off again in the morning.

Whilst T had a wee lay down I had a chat with Sittaram about maybe heading over to Ghorepani (2750m) or Sikha (2830m) for a look-see. Give me something to do if T can look after herself for a day :P

And when I was down the back of the lodge, I noticed these clothes hanging everywhere… We wondered what Anil was up to the night before, with money changing hands between him and all the porters… It now looks like he’s been paid by the others to do their washing, hah …Entrepreneur.
