Pothana (1900m) > Landruk (1565m): Suspension bridges and back problems
Now this was fun, and everybody had a great day… Eric might have been a little less excited than the rest of us, as he seems to already have a stomach issue.
He’s spending a lot of time in the makeshift lavatories.
In any case, it’s a big space on the map that we covered… but actually downhill slightly overall.
From Pothana (1900m) we made our way up to Bhichok (2100m) before heading down a bit to Tolka (1700m) for lunch. The day was all laughs, and everyone seemed to be relaxing into the group. I spent most of the day joking around with Ang and Subas (a sherpa guide), whilst Sittaram (the other sherpa guide) lead the way… as quiet as ever. Even Eric and Christina got into the swing of things, and took to having the piss pulled out of them a few times.
The day itself was spent traversing jungle paths and encountering the odd suspension bridge. There’s not really much else to report, other than at lunch we were warned that tomorrow was going to be hard.
So lunch up, we set foot back on the trail to our camp… a bigger village… Landruk (1565m).
A pretty built up place for so far from anything else, and from our mist-ridden camp over-looking the gorge of tomorrows pass, we can see our destination… Ghandruk (1940m).
A 500m increase over a full day can be pretty disheartening, but we knew tomorrow was the hardest day on paper for a while. Live in the present, reflect on the laughs of today and enjoy the camaraderie we seem to have now.. Tonight.
One slight problem… When T was doing the trivial task of rolling her sleeping kit out for the night, she popped her back. Her disc again she believes. Now what?
Will it end in the morning?
