Ghandruk (1940m) > Tadapani (2590m): Yak scats and snowballs
In all honesty, I awoke this morning hoping that T would give it the thumbs down for a continuation. Not because I wanted to leave⌠but because I didnât want her hurting herself just for the sake of thinking sheâd messed up my trek⌠After all, whatâs more important?
Anyway, she effectively said that the show must go on⌠So to Tadapani (2590m) we set sail.
This was basically a repeat of the day before though⌠Down 500m to a river crossing, and a suspension bridge that wasnât suspended.. Hmm
And then up the other side 1000m to campâŚ. âslowly slowlyâ.
I went with the one pack option today thoughâŚ. We prepared for Tâs inability to carry much weight and I rucked the heavies⌠water, camera equipment, etc⌠She took the fleeces pretty much.
She actually liked having the pack on because it kept her back warm and gave her some additional support. Fine by me :P
So yeah, the decent was pretty standard.. And Ang and myself debated the differences between the turd samples we were encountering; buffalo, yak, goat, etc.
Once hit the upside, the forest was too enclosed for the last snow to melt, so of courseâŚ. We all downed equipment and had a snow fight⌠Nice. We even ambushed a group coming the other way on the trail, hah.. They didnât know what hit âem ;)
Plus it was Tâs first snow⌠even though it wasnât fresh.
I think it was due to our little gallivant in the snow fields, but we made it late to camp. It was getting dark anyway⌠But alas, we werenât late at all.
No sooner had we made it to the site than it started to snow⌠T was so happy. Standing out there in her Hydronaute like a kid.
Over dinner Ang gave us a decision to make as a group⌠to Dobato, which is a difficult 9 hour climb at the best of times, let alone with fresh fall⌠or to Deurali (2990m), the more conservative route. We obviously opted for Deurali citing medical grounds.
Eric and Christina understood our reasoning and agreedâŚ. Hopefully they werenât too upset on the inside.
