City Tour & Thamel
An early start today - taking in a city tour. We joined up with the Everest Base Camp group and headed off to check out a couple of temples. Bodnath Stupa - the big Buddhist temple with the eyes painted on it - and Pashupatinath Temple - the Hindu temple.
We can’t enter, just check out the surrounds and the crematorium. Interesting architecture and religious iconography, but not fantastic is how I would sum it up.
We all get dropped off in Thamel so we can have lunch and what not. Eric and Christina do their own thing, as do Daniel and whatever his girlfriend/not girlfriend. We hooked up with James, an English guy out here on his own. He was a banker, and when he returns to Britain, he’s joining the navy… career-change?
Anyway, we do some shopping; buying yaks wool scarfs and a few trekking things we couldn’t get cheap at home. And after an hour or so of wandering the streets we make our way back to the hotel, but on the way we drop into a Chinese restaurant… where I had the Szechuan Chicken of my life.. All the 180R.
