Bangkok: Palace, pigeons, and tight uniforms
Early kick-off today because of the fitting, so we attacked breakfast and scurried across to the tailor to try our gear on.
A quick chat and a few chalk marks later and we’re off. Everything should be finished in another couple of days.
A few touristy things on the books for the rest of the day. A quick get away to the Palace, which was mightily impressive. And also impressive? Thai tour guides offering tours in English, German, French, and Japanese that I was aware of… We of course went it alone and fumbled our way around the place. As it was getting a little busy we decided to head off.
In the park opposite we paused for a look at the map to get our bearings.
A stamping of feet and giggly chatter.
And just look at what’s coming toward us… About 50 officers (not sure of what) all wearing overly tight uniforms. Like so tight the buttons are tearing away from each other and trying to expose the nipples that are otherwise unhidden anyway.
And then we look the other way… is this the bird flu?
There are a few pretty lame looking pigeons waddling around. Super.
So with that in mind… Khao San for some lunch and t-shirts.
What is it with Thai food and caterpillars?
My lunch was served with a caterpillar crawling through my salad again… This happened on my last visit to
A trend or the cuisine?
Ah well… Late it the day we feel it’s time to head home. I get my Red Bull supplies for the next few days and we flag a taxi.
The taxi driver was kind of crazy. Giggling to himself and to our answers. So thought, ‘here we go, let’s give him a good laugh’. I tried out my Thai skills, which honestly suck.
Boy, did he laugh now, haha ….At least we seem to have made his day.
