An amazing Hotel in Vienna, Austria
We stayed here as part of our Contiki bus tour. After a week of staying in ok places. Coming here was almost like going to Disneyworld.
After a week staying in typical standard, old fashion, modern city hotels in Europe, it was a nice break checking into this bright, fresh & spacious hotel. The lobby had many sofas for the guests to sit down and enjoy. There is an inviting, beautifully decorated bar facing a courtyard. The classy & high-ceiling restaurant was really good and served good german food.
Overall, we had 2 very good rest & relax nights in this hotel. Our comfortable room has 2 large glass doors opening-up to view the courtyard garden or large green field, floor-to-ceiling mirrors to reflect the natural light, & sky blue wall paper creating a pleasant & casual beach style atmosphere. The twin beds are neat & clean, the pillows are too soft but we requested for additional pillows easily. The toilet is conveniently separated from the bathroom; funny thing is that we can clearly hear the corridor conversions in the toilet and wonder whether it’s vice-versa. Unfortunately, there is no kettle or tea-facility in the room.
As for the service staff, most are very friendly and speaks good English. Breakfast is the only time we found fault, There are 2 areas for breakfast. The hall which all tour groups had breakfast has no good coffee (where is the famous Vienna coffee?) & no proper spoon for coffee & tea. When we asked for it on both days, we were given soup spoon to stir coffee & tea! While the varieties could be different for tour groups, the service level should be the same if the hotel is striving to be an event/conference hotel.
We arrived at the hotel by private coach. The hotel is a short half hr train ride (zone 2) into Vienna city centre, costing Euro$3.40 one-way, stops in front of Vienna Opera House (last station). The station is right outside the hotel compound, along the highway. It’s easy to navigate our way around. Directly opposite the hotel compound, within 5-10 min walking, is Austria’s largest Shopping City Sud (scs.at) with plenty of trendy & fashionable shops & they open at 9-10am. It’s convenient for last min shopping before leaving.
The hotel Cocktail was our hideout the first evening. Our whole tour group overwhelmed the bartender. We were contantly ordering drinks from him, like it was some type of barn yard night club.
The next evening, that bartender was refusing to serve any of us. Very rude. I say if you stay here and you see Andre the bartender working there, order many drinks and make him work for his tips.
