A Quiet and Little Place on the Outside of Good ol Florence
We stayed at this hotel in 2005 on our Contiki tour. It is located I quite enjoyed my stay at the President Hotel, which is located on a quiet hill outside the center of Florence.
The hotel staff was very friendly. Moreover, the rooms were ok; very clean but for the rest nothing special. I would say more 3* than 4*. The hotel in general and the rooms in particular have quite a retro feeling to them, which is not necessarily bad but I think that the property would benefit from a renovation. The room we was very big and had a good clean bathroom with good running water, that was a good colour of course.
Please be aware that this hotel is not located in the center so for this reason not ideal for tourists I would say. But ok if you have transport. On the flip side the fresh air on the hill on which the hotel is located, is a welcome change to the smog and heat of Florence during the summer months.
It was a bit of a walk if you were to venture into the main part of Florence.
I would overall stay here again, it was a decent place to stay and was generous on the pillows.
I would recommend this place for someone who is looking to save a few dollars on accommodations.
So go ahead and come check it out

A Half Decent Nightlife - But Better things in Florence
It's alright. Went there as part of a suggested clubbing thing with Contiki in 2005 2005 through Florence (different trip) that also suggested everyone go to Space... I think they must get a kick-back or something.
Lots of drunk girls/guys, some locals looking to pickup or pickpocket people. Lots of people cutting loose.
Personally, not my scene.
The bar / disco has a commercial look to it, but is very outdated. Drinks are expensive.
On entry there was a big banner saying "Welcome Contiki". So It was quite, commercial and geared just towards tourists only.
Downstairs bar is more intimate in a traditional north-american bar type look to it, and upstairs is a larger more open 2-story affair with a DJ booth, some bathrooms, not much in the way of seating, and lots of dance floor space.
Overall we did have a good time, we made the best of it. But it was early in week so we were almost only group in there at the time.
I wouldn't go back again. There are way more places that are much better than this in Florence.
