Montreal is a city full of culture and diversity. As Quebec's largest city is almost like being in Europe without leaving Canada. Very metropolitan. City has many great attractions and offers all to all types.
One of those cities in which is great to go anytime of the year. From summer/spring for all of the festivals. To fall/winter theres the winter carnavel and hockey season. Montreal is best know for their smoked beef and corn beer sandwiches.

Also for all the non - speaking french people out there. No worries on french, you don't need french to visit Montreal.

This blog is my first trip to Montreal around November 2006. I have gone here twice, will have a separate blog for the second time up as well.

We leave Thunder Bay on a cold morning of November 2006 to fly to Montreal. First time going to Montreal, as I was told its the best city to see in Canada. I am traveling with a buddy from Thunder Bay named Joshua and he is not much of a traveller, but wants to see Montreal.

We take off from Thunder Bay on airline Westjet and its a good flight. First we have to fly to Toronto for a short layover. Once in Toronto airport we eventually board our next Westjet flight to fly to Montreal, on board I watch Discovery channel on the personal screen, quite amazing.
We land in Montreal and its still early in the morning, sun is shining and the birds are chirping.
We get to our taxi and take it to downtown Montreal, where we are staying. Our hotel is the Days Inn which is on Rene Levesque Rue.
Good area and its close to many things, in immediate area. We leave the hotel and go for a long walk to check out the city. We walk up the block and get onto St Catherines St. Which is your most happening street in all of Montreal.
Being the morning, its not as going on as it should be. We walk all the way down to Bishop and Crescent street and check it out.

Then we head on back to our hotel and decide its lunch time. Our first spot for lunch is a restaurant type of place more of a bar and grill called Venus and Flytrap located along St Catherine St. The place is very busy and lots of people, we order at the bar. Order a good plate of Fish and Chips from the beautiful french waitress. Very polite and punctual.  The meal is amazing and its washed down with some good Beer, Heineken.

Over the rest of the day was spent going to various building and manly just walking. For dinner tonight its at a pub near Bishop St. Which is once again a good meal. Then off down St Catherine st later to try out a French Canadian Adult Entertainment. Called CLub De Super Sex.
Its kinda dodgy location as you walk into this tiny doorway and up these tiny steps. You are greeted by the bouncer and you pay a 10 dollar cover charge. Then bouncer sits you on a table and you have to tip once again, quite expensive. Then get a beer and its almost 15 bucks for just a coors light. All well , what can you do.
Well after being here its a decision, we spent too much and call it a night. Off to bed till tomorrow.
