Oh my goodness! I'm wrting this after a weekend in which I think maybe I slep like 4 hours! So we started this adventure on Saturday and end up back on Sunday night, enjoy.....
So Saturday night we decide on a whim to go to Songtan for some Thai food. It's awesome and the service is amazing! The name of hte palce is Chang Puck, apparently the owner is fron thailand so bada-bing authentic! Man I wish I could rember all the names of the dishes we had because man, they were great. Being a lover of spicy food, I fell in love.
After dinner we decide to go to Seoul, I 'm in the mood for some live jazz so we head to Kang Nam, where we hear there is no shortage of live music clubs.
This place is POSH, the band is going hard as we walk in the door, we end up center stage and the vibe is amazing. We order some drinks and kick the night off. It's a jazz club so I start off with a Scotch, I love to sip it and listen to music at home, why not in the club right? So we talk and joke for a couple of hours and decide to go to the loft for a cigar, I brought my own and am dissappointed I did after looking at their cigar menu. They had a decent selection of Cubans and Dominicans but the price was a little out of my league so I decide to pass, what can I say in a place where a beer is 12,000 won you can imagine what a cigar costs.
We stay untill about 1 and decide to go get some coffee, we run into a little cozy mom and pop joint and sit for a while. After the recharge we're off! First stop Nore Bang! Now if you're a kareokee love ryou'll love a Nore Bang! It's a room you rent with a kareokee machine in it, it's fun because you can get like 10 people into the room, drink and sing untill like 5 am, which it turns out, is exactly what we decide to do.
At around 5:30 we head to McDonalds for breakfast, after that we realize our pockets are light and we don't have a place to stay. No problem in Seoul! 24 hour saunas are everywhere and almost all of them have a sleeping room. We find one and crash for a couple hours. At about 9 I get a call. It's my wife long distance from the states.
At about 11 I get a call from my friend Sage, "you guys gonna sleep all day or what?!?!" well that was enough to get us up. We decide to meet her at another coffee shop. After a healthy lunch(?) at KFC we decide to split up. Isaac and I go to Seoul Grand Park and Sage decides to go to Dongdae Moon.
First off, Seoul Grand Park is so big it has it's own subway stop, there is a zoo, a theatre, and a full amuzement park not to mention miles and miles of hiking trails on this ginormous plot of land. It's amazing! We decide to go to the zoo and are less than happy with what we see. The animal habitats are sub-standard and the place is dirty, not exactly a place for the kid. What the zoo does have however is tons of trees and in Fall they make for great photos, so we salvage the moment and bust out the cameras. At about 6 pm the park closes and we decide to boogie.
We jump on the train and are back in pyoungtaek by 9. This one was one for the ol' blog, no sleep, non-stop party and travel. This little weekender was what all weekend trips should be, fun, memerable and spent with friends. Untill next time.....
