Buenos Aires - September 19-25
September 25, 2008
Better late than never right? I finally finished processing my Buenos Aires photos, which became greatly delayed due to my European cruise that followed close on the heels. I had time on that trip to finish working on these so, without further ado, here you go.
Since it has been so long, and I know most of you just look at the photos anyway, I will leave out my blow by blow of what I did. Here is the summary of my photo exploits.
What you are seeing here are two cathedrals, the Recolata and St Virtuous. Sadly, I only had three minutes to get off one shot of St Virtuous. It was a lovely dark cathedral with the most medievally, stony feel I have experienced in a long time. Recolata is located just to the side of the famous Recolata cemetery and across the park and bridge from the Floralis Genérica. Speaking of the Floralis Genérica, that is the huge flower work of art that has become the national symbol of Buenos Aires. I also took quite a few shots of the cemetery near Recolata. It was not as fun as Paris or New Orleans, but it did offer some very unique sepulchers and some great art. You will also find shots of La Boca. Now, before I go on, I need to explain how pathetically over-rated La Boca is. Do not be fooled by my colorful HDR photos. This place is a shit hole. It is an old run down barrio that some people painted multicolored and some tourist marketing guru somehow has made the world think is the tango capitol of South America. The only tango that is going to happen down there if you're not careful is a thief tangoing around you picking your pocket. I had to shoot it though because of the fun photos and high contrast situation the buildings would create. Search elsewhere for a good tango experience.
