Nerja
In need of a warmer climate, we headed to Nerja - a town on the Costa del Sol. We left Granada around 10am at 6 degrees, and 3 hours later we were lying on the beach in Nerja at around 20 degrees. Nice!
Nerja is a very touristy built up place. Actually, the whole of the Costa del Sol that we drove around seemed to be covered in a plethora of tourist complexes. Luckily, we were there in winter, so the hoardes of tourists weren´t so bad.
There´s not a lot to see in Nerja apart from the beaches, and also a limestone cave of stalagmites and stagtites, housing the world´s largest limestone column (joined up stalagtites and stalagmites). It´s very pretty, but dry - unlike Waitomo Caves. And there´s a concrete path right the way around, and also a big concrete stage for ballet concerts!! How bizarre!
Nerja is also well known for its good paella...
