Bridgeport

One of several planned stops to see train stations along the route, Bridgeport was a pleasant surprise.  Despite it being an average small southern town, it has a beautiful, restored station.  Since it no longer has any passenger service, it is now a museum.  The town takes great pride in it, and it is once again the center of activity.

There is a large photo gallery, and lots of other material, that documents the history of the town and the railroad.  The staff is friendly and helpful.

While there, several Union Pacific locomotives rolled past the station.  It was awesome to see the UP on tracks east of the Mississippi.
