10: Have a Meal at Centimeter: These restaurants are scattered through the city and come highly recommended. Hussle a group together and head to Centimeter for a meal. Make sure you have a group of at least 5 people so you can order 'The Sword' or 'The Wheelbarrow'. This is a new way of dining with schnitzel and pork coming out on a sword accompanied by fries, chilli, and chicken wings. The Wheelbarrow comes accompanied by a range of pastas. Also order the 5 Litre beer tower. Although the beer goes flat quickly, its handy and something different having a tower of beer on your table. It is guaranteed that temptation will get the better of at least one member of your group and they will forget the glass and drink straight from the tower.
9: Catch an Old-Styled Tram: Vienna still operates vintage trams.
8: Donau Insel: So you are hungover but looking to do some more sightseeing. Jump on the U1 line and head to the Donau Insel. Lie back in the sun looking over the Danube, hire a boat, jump on trampolines, or enjoy a cocktail. All this is easily possible at the Donau Insel.
7: Kebab Stands: One of the first things you will notice about Vienna is the abundance of Kebab Stands. Shop around to find your favourite. My tip is only buy from kebaboligists (kebab shop workers) that use a big knife and never buy from somewhere that uses an electric knife. Another tip is kebaboligists that smile make the best kebabs but if he (or she) has a moustache then you must buy a durum.
6: Schonnbrunn: This will be mentioned in all your tourist guides and this is the time to become the standard tourist and follow the masses to the palace. Tour inside and find out the history of Maria Theresa. Walk the strolling gardens and climb to the top of the gardens for the best view. The zoo is close-by for a visit to see Fu-Long, the famous panda. This is the one monument i suggest you follow the camera and map wielding retirees to.
5: Prater: The world famous theme park is another Vienna site you will find in tourist guides. Take some photos of the Riesenrad (Ferris Wheel) but skip all the rides for mini-golf. Gather a group, visit Billa for a heap of beers and enter.
4: One Euro Pub: Located at Seidengasse 39b, 7th district. This bar is pretty self explanatory. Everything cost 1euro. Beer, Wine, Tequila, Jager, Crappy Red Bull Knock Off, Chips. This bar is the best place in Vienna to begin your night or, in some cases, end your night. Take 10euros in, come out completely smashed. Also try the porno game in the corner with the ever popular 'Spot the Difference'.
3: Heurigers: These are wine bars usually located on the outskirts of the city. They serve cheap wine, an authentic meal, and traditional music gets played.
2: Paddy O'Briens: Located at Passauer Platz in the 1st district. Walking through backstreets and away from the heart of the city you stumble across a bar where the security scare the shit out of you. Enter and walk down the stairs into a dark bar with no music. The regulars wear dark clothing and sport piercings. You are probably now asking why this makes it to number 2 on the list, well, here comes the good bit. Order a Red Bull Vodka Bucket from the bar. 35euros gets a full bottle of vodka tipped into a bucket topped off with ice and Red Bull.
1: Museums Quartier. The heart of Vienna in my opinion. This area comes to life during Spring then hits into overdrive come Summer. Enjoy the Art museums that surround the area but to really get the most out of MQ you must grab some alcohol and sit in a purple booth for hours. Listen to the reggae music and people watch as a range of character fill MQ. Enjoy a drink at sunset or wander down with a guitar during the night. Play a couple of Clash songs and you will soon attract a crowd. This is the ideal meeting spot in Vienna and the best way to relax.
