Thai Massage, Irish Coffee

Last night turned out to be pretty fun! Stayed at Rock Bar until late. I played 3 songs. Folks (especially the other musicians) were impressed. An Irish woman asked if I knew traditional Irish songs. I didn't know the one she was asking for--she wanted to sing it and have me play guitar. She did a great job a capella, though! I was getting ready to leave, and the Irish girls invited me to have a drink with them. They were really nice!
There was a Thai guy that got up to play a bunch of tunes, and he was hilarious! Some of the lyrics were classic. He also did some Bob Marley songs. I think I got back to my room around 1am.
I had big plans to spend the day climbing up to the lagoon and swimming also at Railay West, taking photos there.
Once I get healthy again, maybe I'll come out here for awhile. Leading tours could be fun, or teaching English. Time to take care of myself, amidst work. If I have a CD by then, I can live off of that a bit also. Such a paradise here.
Afternoon, Real Coffee (a coffee bar in Railay West)
My Thai massage was a trip! It is rare that someone actually works my shoulders hard enough. My body feels really tired, though. I think that must have worked out A LOT of toxins! I should be drinking water, and here I am drinking ridiculously expensive coffee and Bailey's. Fancy, though; the barista even put steamed froth on top!
Walked to Railay west after my massage and took a couple rolls of film, then went swimming.
Today I had my only negative experience with the locals. A Thai waiter came up to me and accused me of not paying for my tea at his restaurant...yesterday. Apparently he forgot to charge me. That seemed so rude to me, but maybe it is normal here. But to stop me on the road over 40 baht and make it sound like I was the one who screwed up? I paid whatever he asked for at the time; it was his mistake if he didn't charge enough. Maybe he got in trouble for it or something. I made a mistake like that before when I worked for NMC, quoted a lot less than I was supposed to, and I did call the customer to ask for more, but it was before they had paid, and before we delivered the product.
This place is so beautiful, and the scene at the bar last night was like summer camp. I wonder if I can stay up to see the fire show today, and I wonder if they have any poi chains I can play with. No more alcohol tonight. Just soda.
When can I come back here? Hopefully I can write off some airfare and a night or two stay at Railay for my music. The 297th open mic night at Rock Bar. Neat-o. Maybe I can play at Khao San tomorrow night in Bangkok, but I can't stay up too late, as I have a long and intimidating journey home.
Watching kayakers try to catch tiny waves over here on the west beach is amusing. They turned the wrong way and flipped the kayak! Fun. There are a few kids boogie boarding in the whitewash. Still cloudy, so as yesterday, photos are going to be pretty flat.
