Meeting Travbuddy ”dieforu” = Mehmet  from Greece in Trondheim.

Just finishing my blog about meeting Travbuddy “realnepal”= Milan, I got a message from “Journey” = Gudny telling me she had a meet up with Mehmet in Oslo. 

I introduced Mehmet to Gudny knowing he was visiting Oslo.  She had met Mehmet the same day and told me Mehmet was going by train from Oslo to Trondheim.

“He is going to be in Trondheim tomorrow” she wrote, “arriving the train station at 14.

Mechmet is in town

Oh my I have to reschedule my plans for tomorrow.  Ok meeting Travbuddies, I have to make an effort .  What can I drop and, what can I put on “stand by” and what do I have to do. J

The only thing I HAVE to do tomorrow is practising with my symphonic band.  But that isn’t before 19.00.

Tuesday:

After a good night sleep I have figured out how to organise the day.

I send a message to Milan:

Hi Milan.

On The Old Town Bridgh

I got a message from a Travbuddy in Oslo telling me that a Travbuddy from Greece is arriving Trondheim to day. I`ll meet him at the train station at 14.47. As I`m busy this evening I hope you have the opportunity to meet him. His name is Mehmet. I`ll tell him your in town and give him `the name at your hotel. May be he will contact you. Hope you’ll have a great day.

Shortly after I got his answer:

It would be nice to meet with him. I will be little busy to prepare a presentation in the evening. However, I think I will be free after 8.30 pm. Please tell him to meet me at Hotel Scandic lobby on 8.30 pm, if it is ok for him. I will be there using internet and wearing my typical Nepali cap.

At 12.10 I got a message on my cell phone:

Hi Marit its me Mechmet from TB, hope Gudny told you I`m going to be in Trondheim for a day. I`m on train now, going to arrive like 14.30. Hope to se you. J

I answered:

I will be at the station waiting for you.

Rosenborg shop, and Mechmet is soon going bananas. :)

Mehmet:

Ok thanks, that’s great J See you.

Shortly after I got a message from Ben telling me he would not be able to travel to Trondheim this time.  I told him I was sorry for him but hope to see him some other time.

I drove to the station at 14.30 waiting for Mehmet with my Norwegian flag, warmly welcoming him to Trondheim.  When he arrived Trondheim station I was waving my flag, hoping he will recognize me.  I had no problem recognizing him.

We drove to a youth hostel so he could leave his baggage and then drove back to the centre of Trondheim.

I tell all who is visiting Trondheim that The Nidaros Cathedral is a must so this was the first stop.

I am buying this....

Then we walked to The Old Town Bridge and Baklandet.  Baklandet is on of the Old Towns in with small wooden houses.  But this is not the same place I went to with Milan.

We walked around for some time in Trondheim, looking at the Royal Residence and the main square.

Mehmet had to check his ticket from Oslo to Amsterdam so we went in to a travel agency.  The travel agent told him his ticket was ok.

Mehmet likes to photograph and I think this is why most of my photos of him are with his camera in front of face.

I asked if it was something special he wanted to see and he answered Rosenborg.  For those of you interesting in football I do not have to explain, but for those who are not; Rosenborg is a football team from Trondheim, very famous because they often qualify to Champion League. 

And lots of football interested people in Europe do not know where Trondheim is but they know about Rosenborg.  And some of them have also visited Trondheim when their football team had played against Rosenborg in Champions League.

Dinner at Tyholt Tower

I drove to Rosenberg’s home arena, unfortunately we didn`t see some of the players, but we visited Rosenberg’s shop.  And in the shop Mechmet went bananas J J J.  I would like to have this, and this, and this, and………………………   Sorry Mehmet for telling, but I have to be honestJ.          

Ok he wasn’t so crazy……. J

Leaving the shop he had a LARGE plastic bag with supporter stuff or as the nice guy in the shop called it; Clothes to wear when you are supporting Rosenborg in the Champions League. 

After this we had to have some food, so we drove to The Tyholt Tower.

Oh I am a lucky girl :)

Mehmet wanted to try the salmon, and salmon we had. 

It was a nice meal and Mehmet was photographing the view as the restaurant rotated.  Later this evening meeting up with Milan he told us he had been to the restaurant with his friends about the same time we visited.

I drove Mehmet to the hostel; he wanted to have a rest while I went to meet my symphonic band for a rehearsal.   We were going to meet up with Milan later this evening.

At 22.00 I finished my rehearsal and meet up with Mehmet and Milan at Milan’s hotel.  We went out for a drink at Solsiden talking about the political situation in Europe, Asia, USA and Central America.  And of cause our fantastic Travbuddy friends. J

Mehmet told us about the meet up he had participated in Leiden.  He was very enthusiastic about the Travbuddies J he had meet in Leiden, and looked forward to go to Leiden again after his visit in Trondheim.

Time runs fast in God Company and it is time to say good night.  Milan went to his hotel just 1 minute walk from the bar, and I followed Mehmet half way to the hostel to make sure he had the shortest way to walk.  The hostel is just 10-15 minutes walk from Solsiden and my home.

Wednesday: 

At 07.45 Wednesday I drove to the hostel, giving him a lift to the railway station.  He’s train to Oslo is leaving Trondheim 08.25.  He is going by plain to Amsterdam and then to Leiden. 

Just want to say to you in Leiden; Mehmet is soon back in town, and he is looking forward to.
