This was a rough day. We were up at 4:30am to catch a 5:15am Hedman Alas 1st class bus towards Copan
in Honduras. A 6 hour ride. Word to the wise, even though its 1st class, the bathroom is only for #1 only, not #2. SO, if you eat a lotta Pollo Campero the night before, you're out of luck. Luckily I know how to meditate. ANYWAY, ride was long, mostly through hand planted corn fields on hilss which is kinda interesting. One nice thing about the 1st class bus is that they handle the immigration transfer. In other words, you don't have to get out of the bus at the border, go to the border office, and wait, you just sit on the bus and the inspector checks your passports.
flying goblin monsters!?!?!?!
Nice. Got to our hotel, relaxed a bit, very HOT, we decided to wait early afternoon so we could avoid the sun, went around to the town museum, which was decent, bought water. Then we walked the mile to the Copan Ruins, went to the Copan Ruins Museum first and WOW, what a great museum. I'd say its almost as good as the Anthropological Muesum in Mexico City. The biggest attraction for me was the 30 foot tall replica of the top of a Mayan temple as it would have looked, painted and all. very impressive Copan! Then we went to the ruins themselves. We saw peccaries which are neat. The ruins were nice, a lot more stella than other ones I've been to, but with the classic ball court, the unique thing about this one was the stairway to heaven thing, that was cool. Go pictures to be had here. Anyway, returned via mototaxi, and had dinner in Churrasqueria Momo's, it was GOOOD! and luckily we finished just as the torrential rain started. Got to our rooms and slept.
