Rooftop in Panajachel looking at Volcano
Woke up, left at 8am for Chichicastenago. Got there after about 1.5 hours on mountainy road. At least this was on a direct micro that wasn't picking up passengers all way like the chicken bus. No insult to the town, I know it's got this reputation of being this great indigienous market, but I guess having been to the markets in Peru and Mexico, a lot of the Chichicastenago stuff was kinda a repeat, and comparatively, the market was a lot smaller than others I had been to, and less appealing, and more pricy actually! Also, the food was okay (filling me with sadness as food is half the reason I travel, que triste) Anyway we left at 2pm, got back at 4pm, we were supposed to eat out at a nice place, but I guess I got dehydrated and I had an awful headache, I had to sleep for 3 hours, and when I got up I wasn't hungry. We walked around Panajachel, which oh bye the way, this is the main town on Lago Atitlan, the lake surrounded by the three volcanos. When reading about it it sounded pretty cool, but being there, its more of like a summer home type place. And there are so many tourists, that things are overpriced, but only okay quality.
