So it was a little bit of a surprise to wake up in the car and everything is all of a sudden in french. I knew we were in quebec. After 15 hours in the car we finally made it to montreal. Despite being a little tired we headed out early for the old town of montreal. We walked up and down every street of old town before heading down to the old port to have a little rest. After that we walked over to the mont-royal neighborhood to browse through some of the local shops. It is a great little neighborhood with tons of little cafes and bars to sit and watch the street life. The ext day it was off to underground city despite the beautiful weather. We didn't make it too long down there. Even though we had a map it was still quite confusing to try and figure out. We headed up to street level and walked around. Downtown wasn't too impressive to me, it looked like any old downtown with high rises. We headed up to mont-royal trying to seek some refuge from the busy city. There is a great view from the top up there. We found tons of grassy areas behind the pavillion to sit and rest. The next day we headed north of downtown to the biodome and botanical gardens. Biodome is fun to go to but it was definitely expensive. The botanical gardens are well worth the money though! The next day we headed north of the city about an hour to a small regional park. It had some amazing waterfalls and tons of hiking trails to spend the day on. We had fun hiking and seeing a little of the canadian countryside as well as taking a nice swim in the cool river!
