After spending a few days in the city it was time to see another part of the state. It was off to Duluth
and beyond. We of course stopped at Tobies in Hinckley, a must on a trip up north. We didn't hang around Duluth long before heading up scenic route 61. Taking a little break at Gooseberry falls to get out and run around the rocks and rivers, we decided we should camp there so we spent the next few nights at a campsite mere feet away from lake superior. The next day it was off to Split Rock lighthouse just a few miles up the road. The lighthouse (in my opinion) is a little expensive to get into these days but thankfully there are plenty of hiking trails nearby. We headed up a small 4 mile loop and made it to the top of a hill for a nice lookout point over lake superior. After our morning hike at split rock we headed even further up the road to tettegouche state park. From there we hiked into the high falls and hiked downstream to view the other falls. After a day of running around the north shore it was time for a swim in chilly lake superior at the mouth of the baptism river. The next morning it was time to leave minnesota, but not without a stop at Betty's Pies!
