Sunday in Opatija
We had the
afternoon to ourselves so my husband and I walked along the waterfront in
Opatija and through some of the parks. We
returned to the hotel in the late afternoon.
In the evening
the tour had planned its farewell dinner and we were dressing up. By digging down into the depths of my
suitcase I unearthed the only dressy outfit I’d brought along. Since my husband and I had been traveling for
a month and had only brought a carry-on sized suitcase each, there wasn’t much
I hadn’t already worn and washed many times.
In fact I normally award myself points if I wear everything I’ve packed
and this time I’ve earned my points.
When we all met
in the lobby it was apparent that everybody else had made a effort to look good
too. We walked to the restaurant talking
about things we’d enjoyed over the course of the tour and then went in to
dinner. I wandered around taking photos of the people
that we’d been traveling with for the past 2 weeks, feeling a little sad that
it would soon be over. You make friends
traveling with people and then never see them again. One of those “life is fleeting” moments I
guess. Anyway all those photos are here
in case anyone from the tour sees them.
