Auschwitz in the rain

It's gotten very expensive to travel the normal way of renting a car and staying in hotels so we're trying something new. We're traveling around Eastern Europe by train and staying in apartments. Later we'll join a tour group. It's definately cheaper but does it work? Join us and find out.

Auschwitz in the rain

In the morning it was overcast and drizzling when we met the tour bus to Auschwitz.  The weather just intensified my mood in anticipation of seeing the WWII camp where over a million Jews, Poles and Gypsies had been killed.  The actuality was even more somber than I had expected.  What does it say about humanity that thousands of us are willing to exterminate hundreds of thousands of others?  The implications of Auschwitz will haunt my thoughts for a long time.

Kim has already written about Auschwitz with great sensitivity on her blog.  See

for a very good detailed description of Auschwitz and Birkenau.

Hey wow thanks for linking to my blog. I'm really glad you liked it, as it is a rather difficult topic to write about. Thanks again, Kim
