Out and About in Homer
Today was
the day to search out what appeared to be the elusive eagle. We started out by driving the
From there
we returned to the spit hoping to find some eagles. They were there, just not in the great
numbers of the winter. We discovered
that they liked to sit on the light towers around the deep water boat
harbor. I guess this gives them a real
“bird’s eye view”. We also found that
they like to sit on the beach at low tide.
We usually only found one at a time but found at least one every time we
looked. The eagles are still here, just
scattered.
The
weather was nice and as we looked to the west there, 72 miles away was
We took a
little time to look in the shops and then found several otters swimming behind
the shops on the ocean side. Later one
was very close to shore doing summersaults and washing his face.
After
dinner we returned to the spit to look for eagles and to check out the
sunset.
Tomorrow
we take a boat trip to Otter Cove Resort.
