Off to the ferry at a little after 1 a.m. with no sleep.  After reasonably clear skies the evening before, it was raining before we got to the ferry terminal.  We must be in Ketchikan.  We waited in the terminal until it was time to board the ferry.  As they loaded the ferry we were left sitting on the lot.  Wondering why, we found out that they wanted to make sure no one else was coming so they could load the car and trailer across the ferry for easy exit.  We had hoped to sleep on the ferry, but that was not to be.  By the time we docked at Wrangell, we were exhausted.

We arrived at the campground and started to hook up in the site assigned by email, when a 40 foot motorhome pulled in along side of us.  Unfortunately they are blocking our wireless signal.

After setting up, I took a little nap as the exhaustion took over.  Then it was off to explore the area a bit.  We got a map of the area, and went first to Petroglyph Beach.  We walked the beach looking for petroglyphs.  We found several as we wander the peaceful area.  The skies were finally starting to clear.

We then headed out on the road south out of town.  The road followed the water for quite a while before heading up the mountain.  Along the way we took a side road up to Pats Lake.  The flowers are blooming here that bloomed back in May at home.

We stopped at the grocery store for the makings for dinner.  After dinner we returned to Petroglyph Beach to look for eagles as there is an active eagle’s nest there.  Here I found the Yellow Rumped Warbler, at least that is what I think it is, and the Cedar Waxwing.  As we watched, one of the eagle’s from the nest swooped down, grabbed a fish, and took it up to the nest.  Tomorrow we are sleeping in and visiting some of the historical sites in Wrangell.
