Halfway Down the Cassier

Knowing we did not have a long drive today, we started the day slowly. I walked to the nearby grocery store to pick up a few items we needed before closing up the trailer. Then it was down the Cassier. This is a road whose reputation precedes it. It is known for its gravel portions and bumpy pavement. We found, however, that the road was not all that bad so far. We did have a number of gravel patches early on and then 16 miles of gravel road, but all in all it was relatively smooth. Dust was the biggest problem.
scenery was nicer than the last time we drove it three years ago as for most
the drive the sun was shining and the sky was blue. The
setting up the trailer and getting some lunch, we made a side trip down a “road
less traveled”. This road,
