The day was bright and sunny as we prepared to drive the 100+ miles to Denali.  We were hoping that the weather and sky would stay clear to give us a look at Mt. McKinley once again.  The drive down was easy as the road was good all the way.  We did stop in Fairbanks first to get the bearings greased on the trailer after going through so much dust on the roads.

We stopped several times along the way including a stop to photograph a moose eating happily in a pond.

As we drove down the Parks Highway, Mt. McKinley looms straight ahead of you.  The mountain was in full view, just not nice and crystal clear.

Unfortunately, by the time we arrived in Denali and set up the trailer, clouds had moved in, obscuring most of the mountain.  So after sitting for a while, hoping the mountain would make an appearance, we traveled a little farther into the park to Savage River.  We have hiked the trail there in the past and will do it again while we are here.  For tonight we just looked around a little.

As we headed back out of the park, Mount Deborah, which is not in the park, glistened ahead with it snow covered peaks.

After dinner, we went through a few of the shops in the area.  Then to bed, as tomorrow we must be in the park early to catch the bus to Wonder Lake.
