Wall Drug early in the morning

We thought the wind we encountered in Shelby, Montana was bad until we spent a night in Wall, SD.  After the beautiful sunset the weather took a turn for the worse.  The wind started to pick up during the evening causing a little shaking of the trailer, but by 2 a.m. the wind was blowing at a steady 40 mph or so and the trailer was rocking and rolling.  Since the trailer is very light weight, we were afraid that the constant pounding would eventually damage the trailer.  So at 2:30 a.m. we closed up the trailer and spent the rest of the night in the car.  Fortunately we had not unhooked the trailer from the car.  As soon as it was light, we headed out.

The drive across South Dakota and into Minnesota was long and uneventful.  We broke the monotony by doing a few geocaches.

We pass along farms and ranches and by some beautiful fields of sunflowers.  We did not get into the Badlands, but passed just to the north of them.

We finally ended the day at Albert Lea, Minnesota.

Tomorrow we will return to Tinley Park to say a quick hello to the Langes.
