A day out in Maihaugen which is in Lillehammer
August 30, 2008
It was Saturday morning and the alarm went off around 06:45 am. It takes a while to drive out to Lillehammer and since i had to get home later its better to get up bright and early.
I got in my car at 08:10 am and texted Liz to let her know i was on my way. The drive there was fine and i made sure i followed the speeding signs for a change, well almost:)
Once i got close to Liz's place i slowed down so i didn't miss the turn up to her house like i did the first time haha..This was a flawless turn if i might say so myself.
We got on our way at 10 am..We stopped to fill some gas on the car then kept on our way to Lillehammer where we arrived at 11am. Liz was in need of a jacket so we stopped at the shopping center where she just had to go to the bathroom before looking for a jacket. In the mean while i was looking at the photo store where i found a great external hardisc to take back up of my photos. Great little thing to bring with you on vacation so i think i'm gonna have to get one of those things at some other point:)
From there we went to the main street and parked in a steep hill where i walked up twice to pay for parking since they didn't take card. I guess living in Lillehammer means walking in steep hills and getting some good exersice. Having walked around we finally found a jacket with a HOOD since that was very important :)
Since we were starving we found a place to sitt down but with regrets after having waited for way too long. To make sure we got filled up we had to by an ice-cream which tated a lot better then the food we ate hahaha
From there we went up to Maihaugen where we found a parking spot and payed only 40 kr which is cheap for parking, trust me on that one:) Well, finding the entrance to this place was really easy but if you don't look around and just walk straight ahead and ending up at a closed gate you know something is wrong haha. ..After pulling at the gates and reading some signs we we went through some bushes and saw the biggest gate with a sign saying Entrance LOL....That is way to funny not being able to see what is right infront of you..
We finally got to the entrance where you buy tickets and on the wall it showed the prices for adults, children, students and so on.. I asked the guy behind the counter if he believed me if i told him we were 16 years of age..he looked at us and wasn't sure what to say so i asked him again:) This time he smiled and mentioned that they did have student discount so i told him i left it at home haha He didn't believe that one either so i asked him if they had a discount for liars :) So now he was just smiling and laughing realizing i wasn't really serious with my questions and jokes. ..
So we got our butts inside and started on our fun day out. Amazingly enough they had children carts for the younger once and i think Quest and i qualified for that part so we jumped in but realized out butts were a little too big to sit all the way down so we just messed around a little for some hot shot photos hahaha...
The walk in the open air museum was great and there were so much to see as well as take pictures of. The weather was amazing and i do believe we got the last day of summer that day. Not that i'm complaining about the weather but a little sunshine warms your soul:)
The day came to an end and it was about time to start going home after all time was getting late and i had to drive all the way back to Oslo which is boring, but worth it once you've had a great day to chat about, right? :)
