First time in the Alps
Next morning I couldn't wait to show Kaija the Alps for the first time. We left early and drove the city to find the last things she needed to go skiing. We went in to a sports shop where they had all the you needed. We met some nice people there who could tell us were to go for some good skiing. They suggested some places and we choose Adelboden becaus e it was close to Interlaken which its a place I love visiting. From Basel it was a two hours drive in schwitz tempo which means that you keep the speed limits. I have never been in a country with so many cameras on the road but I heard that England is even worse.
The trips was nice because the weather was fantastic, clear blue sky -6 degrees it could not be better. When we arrived we easyly found a place to park the car and bought a lift card for Kaija.
I had packed some books which I planned to spend my afternoon with.I wanted to follow Kaija first attempt with the mountain. Being used to slopes which were maximum 5-600 meters high this was a new experience for her. I waved goodbye and looked forward to see her coming down. She had a fantastic day skiing. Both of us totally forgot the time and it was getting late before she called it a day. We packed the stuff and started our drive back to Basel when we remembered that we haden't shopped anything to eat for New Years eve!
We drove into the nearest town which was Thun, a city that I never been to before and which only renome in my mind was for there football team and the trouble they had keeping their fingers from some young girl.
The city was as I expected on a night like this. Very quiet getting ready to have party night. We were lucky to find a gas station where they had some food, not much though! All they had was some spagetti and chopped meat. So our New Years diner became spagetti with meatsauce - a day to remember. But it is not the food it is the company that matters:DNew Year eve in Basel is rather quiet, I had done it before a couple of year ago. There is almost no fireworks compared to Copenhagen where there is a lot of action. We stayed on one hillside of Basel and we didnt see much anyway. I always loved when you buy a rocket in Schwitzerland its stated that you can only use it between 00:00 - 05:00 the 1st of January!
