The night was rounded off with a meal of halushki... delicious.
The next day was dedicated to errands and the opening ceremonies. In preparation, we went on a quest for snacks and planted ourselves on the couch, ready to make snide and critical comments on all other Olympic teams other than Canada's, but mainly towards the Americans.
"I'm sorry if i make a lot of critical comments"
"I'm sorry if I agree with you"
Because what is watching the opening ceremonies on tv if you can't make fun of every little thing? In these situations, I am far too sarcastic for my own good.
The next day, we were able to tear ourselves away from Olympic coverage by 3pm and took a walk from the apartment to Haight Street and Golden Gate Park before meeting some of Janelle's family for dinner. Later that night we would see just how much of an obsession there is for Michael Phelps.
Our last full day in San Francisco we would spend with Julia, a friend we met while volunteering in Ghana (and who also appears in my Philippines blog for a visit)! We took our bikes out, and Julia rented a bike so we could ride across the Golden Gate bridge and to Sausalito, a great ride through the fog. It almost feels like you're entering a different dimension. We eventually caught one of the very full ferries back and talked for a while back at the apartment. Friends are great.
