Once we were in the grounds, we were able to get Rodeo rush tickets for a discount. They tend to sell out the day of so our only option was rush tickets, but it worked out fine and the seats aren't too bad. We spent the rest of the afternoon wandering around the grounds and soaking in all the cowboy culture (we'd have to get used to it as we were heading into Montana the next day!). That evening, we got the evening show and chuckwagon race rush tickets. These are standing tickets so you can always find a good spot to watch the races, and some leave before the evening show, so you can also find a good seat for that.
The Calgary Stampede is certainly a site to see and you can definitely spend a few days and nights wandering the grounds and discovering all the music, shows, rides, games and beer that it has to offer. Unfortunately we only had a day to see it all, but after such a busy day, we were ready to be on our way.
