Cyclists began their ride in Loonan and passed through many small villages. Lars had the first flat tire, and Lady Di was almost taken out by a school girl not paying attention. Lunch at an outdoor cage where Ken & Chuck tried their first Kroketten (croquettes made with meat). We cycled through some congested traffic in a town where we lost Ken and had to go back for him. Also, this was the day we encountered several large tractors (at least three with manure spreaders) and had to get off the bike path quickly to let them pass. We almost lost Lars & Diane who went down the bank. We saw several windmills and took the 10 second ferry across a canal to Amsterdam It began to drizzle at 2:30 pm, but we continued for 45 minutes longer in the rain. Larry and Lars went further because they missed the ferry and took another route.
We visited Lars' friend Anika and her cousin Tonni at his home for cocktails and Indonesian food at Djong. We had planned to take a ride on Tonni's boat on the canals around Amsterdam, but the rain made it impossible.
