Narrow Bridges

We began our day with a ride along the water in a small village. There were at least 12 narrow bridges to navigate on the cycle. Unfortunately, Larry bumped into one of the bridges and went over the handlebars. The good news is that he is OK except for a sore wrist. Now he joins the rest of the boys who have been taking Ibuprofen for the last couple of days.

Our ride today was 60 km and included the usual ride on the dike, through several towns and a great stop for coffee at an outdoor café. Lars treated us to Blokzijlerbrok (spice flavored sweet). We passed by a field of dahlias in bloom. The colors were beautiful and we could just imagine what a field of tulips would be in Spring. We passed by some belted cows today and thought of Fearrington Village.

We toured some very old stone ruins of the Hunen people among the heather fields. We also drove to a beautiful estate and walked around to see the buildings and gardens.

We arrived around 6 in Zwolle and found our B & B (which was an older Dutch home that had been remodeled). We now understand about upstairs and downstairs as this is typical of many homes.

Dinner was elegant and delicious - amazing how cyclists can clean-up in the evening. We stopped in a bar and drank a little too much Dutch Genever (so the Blog is a bit rough today).

And most importantly, the guys say the count is 19. . .
