Birds and Sheep

We began our day with a beautifully arranged breakfast served to us. This was our first breakfast decoratively arranged on each plate instead of self-service. We rode in the van through Nijmegen to avoid the rush hour traffic. We began our ride near the Bed of Flowers B & B in Beuningen. We rode on the dijk for approximately 20 km and saw hundreds of beautiful birds (we all thought it must be a conservation area due to the large flocks.
There was a new challenge today to improve our cycling skills - dodging the sheep who were on the path as well as the poop. Our balance and reaction time was good but not perfect (tires will need cleaning)! We also created another saying "Nose in the Sheep poop" to indicate a bad day or opposite of "Nose in the butter".
The last part of the ride was beautiful in the countryside. All cyclists were quiet and a bit sad because the tour was almost over. We finished our cycling tour and disassembled the cycles in a sunny location by the church of Wijk bij Duurstede. Of course we had some cocktails to celebrate, and the final count was 27.
We did not book our hotel ahead and had difficulty finding a place near Amsterdam due to a large conference. We ended up in the port city of Ijmuiden. We had a late dinner in a seafood restaurant near the port. After climinb three flights of narrow stairs with our luggage, we were ready for some rest.
