Flew into O'Hare Saturday afternoon.  We took the El into town.  Unfortunately for us, they were doing construction in between two of the stops.  So we got on, rode it for 4 stops then had to get off, carry our luggage up the stairs, board a shuttle bus that took us to the next stop, then get off the bus, carry our luggage back down the stairs (the escalators weren't functioning either), reboard the El and continue onto our bus stop.  They were also doing construction on the subway lines that take you into downtown so we road the bus the rest of the way in.  We finally made it to our hotel.  Stayed at the Allerton on the Magnificent Mile.  The elevators were super slow, but other than that, the hotel was nice and ideally located, just wish we had a room with a view of the city.

After resting for a bit, we went to scope out the area and grab dinner.  Spent a little time at the Tribune Tower.  The Tower contains rocks and bricks from a variety of historically important sites throughout the world.  Many of these reliefs have been incorporated into the lowest levels of the building and are labeled with their location of origin. Stones included in the wall are from such sites as the Taj Mahal, the Parthenon, petrified wood from the Redwood National and State Parks, the Great Pyramid, The Alamo, Notre-Dame, the Great Wall of China, and the Berlin Wall among others.  That night we went to Navy Pier.  Watched the fireworks show and enjoyed the free stained glass windows exhibit.
