Bristol's National race
The reason we went to Bristol was our squadron was doing the flyover at the race and there had to be a ground crew there in case anything went wrong on the jets. We left out from Beaufort Sc. on Friday Aug. 22. and started drinking at 6:30 AM. We made it to Bristol around 3:00 PM still drinking. We picked up the pilots at the airport and had a couple of drinks with them before going to the race. At the race, we were in the boxes up at the top where you could see everything. there was also a bar there. The whole race people would come up and just buy you drinks, so the whole race we were drinking for free. After the race my group strolled around the campgrounds looking for some sort of party atmoshere. There people would call us over and offer us more drinks. so we drank and talked to people all night. There was a place in the campground called Jelloville. The people there made jello shots and they were the best that I had ever had. It was a great weekend. especally since the government paid our way.
We did have a D.D. the whole time. THe Marine Corp does not condone drunk driving.
