Akerselva, Oslo - what a natural wonder in the midst of the city...
Monday morning 8am. Just about to wake up and start my day. Had planned to meet Gudny in Oslo and walk along the Aker river. Just had some stuff to take care of before I could leave.
At 9.30 was on my way. It was a beautiful morning and the day looked very promising indeed. I got a real clear indication to what laid ahead when I passed a boat harbor and the water was so still it looked like glass or a mirror. The reflection was just awesome.
I drove on to Mortensrud and met up with Gudny. We took the subway into town, instead of driving and having to look for – not only a parking space – but a free one as well! LOL...
We started at the beginning of Aker river. Or maybe the end, depending on how you view it. :o) The river is 8km long, so we had quite a walk ahead of us. But like I said, the weather was absolutely fantastic and we didn't mind at all being outdoors, getting some excersice and shooting a lot of pictures. The scenery along the river is great and the bird life, or at least the duck life, is amazing.
Starting at Grünerlokka, is starting at THE place in town where you could get drugs if you really want to. And I think that had it not been that we were walking around taking pictures, we would have been approached and asked to buy. The people hanging around here isn't exactly the kind of people you would want to get acquainted with. And I would not walk around this area alone at night..
As we began shooting our pictures, we got everything from sculptures, ducks splashing, piegeons flying, people in all walks of life and syringes just dropped at the spot from the drug addicts. Quite some contrasts you could say.
